My “real degree” is in social science education and I have been a high school teacher for the last 11 years - I taught geography, United States History, and English mostly. During C*vid (it’s a swear word, okay?) while 7 months pregnant with my 2nd daughter and 8 months into pandemic screen-style teaching, I decided to start a little virtual assistant side hustle. It took off faster than I could’ve possibly imagined and I learned MORE than I ever have in my whole adult life in those first few months.

I helped with a 6 figure launch during my first 3 weeks as a virtual assistant. Fielding customer support questions & moderating a Facebook group, I quickly found myself really enjoying the high paced launch process. A Renaissance woman, I dabbled in email writing, social media management, editing and graphic design and became “booked out” within the first 2 months of starting my virtual assistant business. I wanted the best of both worlds, and my amazing principal allowed me to drop to part time teaching for the 2021-22 school year.
Having been a virtual assistant and tackling these small, yet extremely important, pieces of business, gives me an upper hand to the hiring & training process. I know how it feels to be the “new girl” and thrown into a trial by fire situation.
